Summer Activities 2003


  • May 6th-23rd—School Supplies Drive for Needy Children in Honduras—
    Bring in construction paper, glue sticks, note pads, notebook, paper clips, crayons, pens, pencils, notebook paper, and white envelopes to donate to needy children in Honduras. DEADLINE IS FRIDAY, May 23rd!

  • Saturday, May 31st—Car Wash for UNICEF at Giuseppe’s Pizza—10:00 am – 3:00 pm
    Come on out and get some sun while we wash cars to benefit UNICEF. Bring sunscreen & friends!
    There will also be a Divisional Council Meeting at AHS in room 7-215 at 9:00 before the car wash—mandatory for all officers

  • Tuesday, June 17th—Mariner Nursing Home Birthday Party—12:15 pm - 1:15 pm
    We will gather with our local Kiwanis club and celebrate the birthdays of the June residents at Mariner with cake, singing, and flowers. Wear your Key Club shirt and enjoy this special day!

  • Tuesday, June 17th—Officer Planning Meeting at Giuseppe’s Pizza—6:00-8:00 p.m.
    Officers and anyone else interested may attend our planning meeting for the new school year. We will brainstorm project ideas and enjoy dinner!

  • Saturday, June 21st—Divisional Beach Clean Up/DCM at the Hilton—9:00 am – 11:00 am
    Enjoy a great morning at the beach while we help out our community along with other Key Clubs from Volusia/Flagler! Breakfast will be provided and you can hang out after the event is over. Park by the Hilton and meet on the beach behind the hotel. Bring sunscreen & friends!

  • Horizon After School Program from 3-5pm Mondays-Thursdays
    We will be going to Horizon Elementary School where you can help the children with homework and mentor the children sign up in Ms. Shannon's room 7-215, Limit 5 a day.




  • Spring Music Fest
    Committee Meeting- Tuesdays from 3-4pm in Ms. Shannon's room 7-215

    We will be meeting to plan our largest service project Spring Music Fest.




  • Banner Painting/Car Wash Flyer Hang up- Wednesday, January 22nd from 3-4pm in Ms. Shannon's room 7-215
    We will be supporting school spirit and promoting our car wash on Saturday.

  • Car Wash for Childrens Miracle Network at Giuseppe's Pizza from 10-4pm
    We will be washing cars to benefit CMN.




  • Clothing Drive For The Beach House Runaway Shelter January 27-31st




  • Key Club New Member Induction in Theater at 7pm




  • Organize and Deliver Clothing to The Beach House from 10-1pm in room 7-215
    We will be sorting the clothing into age groups and prepare them for delivery.


  • Port Orange Christmas Parade- Sun. Dec. 8th from 1:15-3:00pm
    We will meet behind K-Mart on jackson Street at 1:15 to walk with the rest of the k-family and pass out candy to the crowd in the parade.

  • Mariner Nursing Home Gift Making-Wed.Dec. 11th from 3:00-4:00 pm in 7-215
    We will have fun making candy cane reindeer gifts for the Mariner residents.

  • Mariner Nursing Home Holiday Visit-Sat. Dec. 14th from 12:00-2:00pm
    We will join the Kiwanis Club in visiting the Mariner residents to bring some holiday cheer by delivering our candy cane reideer, singing some holiday songs, and visiting with the residents. This will be an event to remember!

  • Leisure Villas Holiday Gala-Sat. Dec. 14th from 5:00-10:00pm
    We will dress up as cartoon characters and delight the children at the Leisure Villas holiday gala. Meet at Fire Station #2 off of Spruce Creek Road to get your costumes and dress up for this fun event. This event benefits our local Toys for Tots campaign!

  • "Share Your Christmas" Holiday Food Drive-Tues. Dec. 3rd-Fri. Dec. 13th
    We will collect non-perishable food items to donate to the WESH News Channel 2 community food drive. For every 5 items brought in you will receive one service hour. We will deliver the items collected after school on Friday, December 13th.

  • Holiday New Book Drive for Children-Tues. Dec. 3rd-Fri. Dec. 13th
    We will collect new children's books to deliver as gifts to children's home over the holidays. Members can receive one service hour for every NEW child's book donated. We will meet on Mon. Dec. 16th from 3-4 pm to wrap the gifts to be delivered

  • Candy Sale Tuesday,September 3rd to 6th- Next meeting wewill be handing out bags of Airheads to sell for a quarter. One hour of service will be given per bag sold.


  • Road Clean Up Saturday,September 7th 9:00am to 11:00pm-


  • Car Wash Saturday, September 14th 9:00am to 3:00pm-

  • Port Orange Family Days- Saturday and Sunday, October 5th and 6th from 8:00am to 6:00pm
    Be sure to mark your calenders because this is one of the mandatory projects. Key Club is going to in charge of the childrens area so we will be needing lots of volunteers.
  • Childrens Expo Saturday, August 24th and 25th from 10:00am- 6:00pm-We Helped out"SUCCESS BY SIX" we helped the children make crafts. Also, we helped air up and pass out balloons to promote "The house next door".

  • Officer Retreat at DeLeon Springs Park, Monday, August 5th, 9:00am- 3:00pm-This is a retreat for all officers to brainstorm and plan for the 2002-2003 school year. anyone else who would like to attend contact Mrs. Holland.

  • Beach Clean Up at Frank Rendon Park, Saturday, June 22nd, 10:00am- 12:00pm- Come out and enjoy a great morning at the beach while we help out our community! Breakfast will be provided and you can hang out after the event is over- we will have the park reserved the whole day. Bring sunscreen and friends.

  • Kiwanis Golf Tournament at Cypress Head, Saturday, June 15th,7:30am-1:30pm This is our Port Orange/South Daytona Kiwanis Club's signature event for the year- a golf tournament. They are in need of at least 15-20 volunteers to help run the event. If you know anyone who would like to play in the tournament, please contact Mrs. Holland.

  • Key Club End of the year Banquet Thursday, May 2nd from 6:00- 8:00pm at Indigo Lakes Country Club-The people who just joined or were not able to attend induction were inducted at the banquet. All members in good standing were invited to attend this exciting evening where we installed the new officers, retire recognition. Seniors were also recived special recognition.

  • MS Walk Saturday, April 6th from 7:00am- 12:00pm at the Port Orange City Center- This project is during the second weekend in your Spring Break it will be alot for fun but it is all for a good cause. We will be working with registration and set up and you will receive breakfest and a free t-shirt. Come on out for this fun project.

  • Spring Music Fest 2002-Set up at 11:00am the concert is from 2:00pm- 9:00pmWe Will be running a free concet to Benefit the Beach House. We will raise money by Raffle Tickets, Concessions, and Merchandise

  • Spring Music Fest Shirt Pick Up-Pick Up a SMF Shirt in Mrs. Hollands Room on Thursday, February 28th, at cost 5.00 to wear next Thursday, March 7th, and the concert one service hour will be given for wearing the SMF Shirt.

  • Special Olympics Events-Sat. Dec. 8th from 12:00pm-4:30pm at AHS will help out the paticipants with the events held at Atlantic.

  • Special Olympics Friday Dec. 7th from 3:30pm- 8:30pm in the AHS Cafeteria-We will help serve dinner to the hunderds of Special Olypics participants from all over the state of Florida.

  • Barnes and Noble Gift Wrapping- Wed. Dec. 5th and Thurs. Dec. 6th from 6:00pm- 10:00pm- We will have fun wrapping gifts to raise money for The Born to Read Program of Volusia County, which promotes the importance of reading to children.

Members can receive one service hour for every New book donated. We will meet on Wed. Dec. 12th from 3:00pm- 4:00pm to wrao the books as presents to be delivered.

  • Port Orange Christmas Parade-
    Float Decorating-Sat. Dec, 1th from 9:00am- 11:00am-We will meet at the Suntrust Bank on Clyde Morris tio decorate the float with Kiwanis Club and the K-Kids

  • Parade- Sun. Dec. 2nd from 1:00pm- 3:00pm- We will meet behind the old Walmart at Nova and Dunlawton to walk with the float, pass out candy to the crowd, and represent the K-family in the parade.

  • Festival of Trees
    Wednesday, Nov. 28th from 3:00pm- 8:00pm- Setup
    Friday, Nov. 30th from 4:00pm- 8:00pm- Children's Area
    Saturday, Dec. 1st from 9:00am- 5:00pm- Children's Area
    Sunday, Dec. 2nd from 9:00am- 5:00pm- Children's Area
    Sunday, Dec. 2nd from 5:00am- 8:00pm- Clean up
    This is one of our largest and fun projects of the year! We will be helping out in the craft area with the chilren and also greet guests. This event is put on by the Junior League of Daytona Beach, and all money raised will go to help women and children in our community who are victims of domestic violence.

  • Wings and Waves for United WayNov. 10th
    We sold programs at the air Show to raise money for the United Way. Thank you for coming

  • Make A Difference Day/ Deliver Pumpkins for Mariner Nursing Home-
    From 9:00am -10:00am- We will be delivering the pumpkins and try to brighten someone's day.

  • Kiss the Pig for UNICER- Oct 15th- 25th-
    This is an annual fundraiser that is held during the two weeks prior to Homecoming to raise money for our worldwide service project (United Nations Childern's Fund). We will carry around cans and collect money in school and our neighborhoods. Our Goal is to raise !!!! If we reach that goal, Mr. Pagano will kiss a LIVE PIG at Homecoming Pep Rally. This is the second mandatory project of this year, so please bring a jar or can of some kind and pick up your PIG DECAL to decorate it!!! You will receive a service hour for every you collect in this fundraiser.


  • Conklin Centers for the Blind Walk-A-Thon- Saturday, Oct. 13th from 8:00am- 11:00am-
    The Walk-A-Thon will be located at the Speedway and we need at least 15-20 volunteers for registration, shirts, food and water stations, etc. SIGN UP TODAY!!!!

  • Port Orange Family Days- Sat, Oct. 6th form 8:00am- 6:00pm-
    * Start signing up now and mark this date on your calenders because this is a Mandatory project for all Key Clubbers (you need an excuse letter signed by a parent if you are absolutely unable to attend on Friday or Saturday).
    * Set up of games will be Friday, Oct. 5th from 3:30pm- 4:30pm at the City Center (We need people with trucks to carry the games)
    *We need lots of help in the morning to set up (starting 8:00am), all day in the Children's Area, and in the late afternoon for clean up (5:00pm- 6:00pm)
    * OUR KEY CLUB IS IN CHARGE OF THIS VERY IMPORTANT EVENT FOR THECITY OF PORT ORANGE- LET'S MAKE IT GREAT!



  • Candy Sale For 1-800-RUNAWAY- Mon, Sep. 24th- Friday, Sep. 28th-
    we will sell Airheads candy for .25 cents each to support the 1-800-RUNAWAY teen hotline (1 hour per bag sold). You can pick up your candy on Friday, Sep. 22nd in Mrs. Holland's room.


  • Car Wash for Red Cross- Sun, Sep.23rd from 11:00am- 4:00pm-
    Meet at Giuseppe's Pizza to wash cars for American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. This is one small thing we can do to make a difference in these times. You may also sell pre-sale tickets for (1 hour for 3 tickets sold)!
